NORFOLK BOWLS ASSOCIATION

Coaching Bursary

Coach Bowls Level 1

The recruitment of new bowlers must be a priority for us all as we move forward and then once new bowlers are attracted to our sport coaching then becomes a further priority.

Coaching courses are available through ‘Coach Bowls’ and several of our members have achieved a Level 1 qualification through the Coach Bowls scheme.

Bowls England offer a bursary towards Coach Bowls course fees being 50% of the fee for 2 members of an affiliated Club over a 2 year period subject to any age criteria set by Coach Bowls.

I am delighted to announce that the Norfolk Bowls Association will also offer a bursary of 50% of the course fee for LEVEL 1 ‘Coach Bowls’ courses with the same criteria as Bowls England i.e. for 2 members, either male of female per affiliated Club over a 2 year period, subject to any age restrictions set by Coach Bowls. As a result, the full course fee will met through the Bowls England & Norfolk Bowls Association bursary schemes.

The Level 1 course, amongst its elements covers the Coaching of Beginners. Details on the Level 1 Course can be found on the Coach Bowls website via the following link https://www.coachbowls.org/courses/level-1-qualification-in-coaching-bowls/.

At this stage, we will not be offering bursaries for Level 2 & Level 3 courses and other courses run by Coach Bowls but this will be reviewed in the future. The Bowls England Bursary scheme does however apply to all recognised Coach Bowls courses.

The Norfolk Bowls Association Coaching Bursary Form is attached and may also be downloaded from our website from the Bursary page

Please note individuals who only coach indoors should apply for support through the EIBA Ltd. However, Norfolk Bowls Association may consider an application from an EIBA Ltd Member if the applicant can provide evidence that they coach regularly at outdoor clubs affiliated to Norfolk Bowls Association & Bowls England.

For details of available ‘Coach Bowls’ courses, please visit http://www.coachbowls.org/ & for details of the Bowls England Coaching bursary, please visit https://www.bowlsengland.com/coaching-bursary/

As I mentioned previously we are also considering introducing bursaries towards Safeguarding Course fees and Umpiring costs and I will provide more details in due course.
