There was disappointment for Norfolk when hosting the East Regional finals of the Balcomb Trophy at County Arts on Saturday. Hoping to make home advantage tell, they fell just short by finishing 2 points behind Huntingdonshire who go on to the National Finals at Leamington Spa.
The opening match saw Norfolk beat Cambridgeshire 48-40 (6 points to 2) but defeat followed in the 2nd match against Huntingdonshire, 33-48 (2 points to 6).
There was all to play for in the final matches but with both Huntingdonshire & Suffolk ahead of them in the League standings Norfolk needed a 8-0 win against Suffolk and for Huntingdonshire to drop points in their final match against Cambridgeshire.
A sterling effort from saw Norfolk fall just short winning 50-42 and taking 6 points but with Huntingdonshire taking all 8 points against Cambridgeshire, Norfolk’s result proved immaterial as Huntingdonshire topped the League as worthy winners on the day.
