In the quarter finals of the senior fours at Swaffham this morning, Brian Taylor of County Arts started strongly racing into an 11-0 lead. Hunstanton staged a comeback and reduced the deficit it 5 shots but a 6 from Taylor on the 10th end snuffed out the challenge. County Arts ran out 23-11 winners

The second quarter final was a nip and tuck affair with the lead changing hands several time. After 16 ends, Hempton held a narrow 17-16 lead but a 2 and 4 on the final two ends secured the win for Gary Oakley’s Wymondham rink

The third semi final saw Adrian Field’s Norfolk BC rink surge into an 11-2 lead by end 7, then the Wymondham rink of Alan Willer found the pace and closed the gap to 15-11 after 16 ends. A single shot to each side saw the Norfolk BC rink run out 16-12 winners

The fourth quarter between Acle and Downham Market was a very close affair until Acle looked to have secured victory with a single on the 16th end to give them a 4 shot advantage. Downham hit back with a four on the 17th leaving the game all square playing the last. In a tense final end Acle managed to secure two shots to progress to the semi final this afternoon

The semi finals were both close affairs. In the first, Wymondham had the early form, establishing an 8-1 lead before the County Arts rink fought back to get within two shots (7-9). A four on the 14th end  saw the Wymondham rink give themselves some breathing space which was enough to see them secure victory and a place in the final with a 14-11 win.

The second semi final was a very tight game with excellent bowling from both sides. The scores were tied 8-8 after 9 ends  before the Norfolk BC rink of Adrian Field eased into an 14-11 lead at 14 ends. Acle refused to be beaten and by the 17th end the game was tied at 15-15. It came down to the last bowl of the game and Andy Siely managed to secure the remaining spot in the final for the Acle rink.
